Common Adelaide Pool Renovations and how we do them.![Loose spots in Marblesheen Loose spots in Marblesheen](images/Drummy%20spots.jpg)
Weather your pools an old Marblesheen, pebblesheen, painted
or tiled pool - In a typical swimming pool renovation scenario, we’ll firstly pump the water out of your pool a
week or so before we start work. The reason why we remove the water a week to 10 days before starting is because
while the water is out of the pool, the sun will have a chance to heat up and expand any potentially “loose”
surface of the pools interior - as seen in the picture on the right. We want this to happen so that we can remove
& replace any loose plastered surface before any new re-surfacing can commence. This is so we again have a
solid foundation with which to build a new surface upon.
At this stage we’ll then acid wash and high pressure clean all interior surfaces if need be to remove any algae
spots and grime that may have built up over the years. If your pool has an existing “painted” surface - that will
first need to be sand-blasted off before we can begin with the pool resurfacing process. If any of the coping that
surrounds the top edge of the pool is loose, that will also need to be pulled up and re-stuck to ensure a
completely sealed interior surface with no loose parts.
![Crack under Coping Crack under Coping](images/crack%20under%20coping.jpg)
You can see in the picture to the left where the coping directly above the
tiles is loose. You can see that it’s loose by the horizontal crack between the coping and the top row of tiles. If
the top row of tiles are falling off on your pool, then the chances are that there’s a crack under the coping too.
Once the coping comes loose, the first thing that happens is the tiles under the coping fall off. This is a common
occurrence in most of our Adelaide pool renovations.
As you can see in the picture below - If the pool has any rust stains or spots
present, they will need to be addressed too. This process involves identifying the rusted steel rods by removing
the concrete from the affected area and cutting out the rusted steel and replacing them with new rod/s. We’ll than
re-new the concrete in the affected area. 5 out of 10 pools require rust removal during a swimming pool
renovation.
![Spa rust removal Spa rust removal](images/Spa%20rust%20removal.jpg)
Once all the loose surfaces on the interior, coping, any rust and sandblasting etc.
have been dealt with, we’ll then start preparing your pool for resurfacing. If we are fully tiling your pool, we’ll
render up any steps or swimouts so all surfaces are plumb, flat and ready for tiling. If it’s a Quartzon (or
similar) interior that you’re having, we’ll then scratch-coat the whole interior surface with a primer before
applying the Quartzon. If it’s a painted interior surface you’ve opted for, then we only need to acid wash and high
pressure clean the interior surface in ready for painting.
If its tiling you’re having on your pool, (which is by far the most popular among our
Adelaide pool renovations) the tiles will be delivered to your home and tiling will then commence. This process is
a delicate one, (one we consider to be ART) and can take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks to complete – depending of
course on the size and shape of the pool.
If it’s a Quartzon, paint or a similar product that you’re having in your pool – than this process only takes
between 2 to 4 days to complete.
![Our Pool Tent Our Pool Tent](images/Tent%20over%20pool.jpg)
As you can see in the picture to the left, we erect a tent over the pool during the
whole process. This keeps the sun off our backs in the summer, the rain out of the pool in the winter while we are
tiling or plastering, and most importantly, it provides a controlled environment in which to tile or plaster your
pool – especially when we are grouting tiles – as we do NOT want the hot sun or rain during the concrete pool
renovation process – as it always results in a low quality finish.

concrete swimming pool or spa into a brilliant work of Art. Specialising specifically in Adelaide pool renovations
